In 1989, my mums life was revolutionised by a bus. We had no car and lived on a large estate that had a regular bus running through the middle of it, but no service reaching the dense tangle of streets and walkways away from the main road. Her comments on personal income tax rates came in response to a question from TMC member Saugata Roy during a discussion in Lok Sabha where she was piloting the bill to amend corporate tax rates.
